Aggie Belle turned 6 months old yesterday, and today she got to go swimming in a pool for the first time! Our dear friends the Cagles, the family whose Weim inspired Isaac to search high and low for a Weim of our own, have a gorgeous pool, and we were finally able to coordinate our schedules for a swim lesson.
"Grandma" Jeane coaxed Aggie Belle into the water and held her the way she taught Gracie that the deep water is safe. Aggie is so used to swimming at the beach, but she can almost always touch her paws to the sand and feel secure there. Once we put the life vest on, she really relaxed and began testing her paddling skills.

Before long, she was swimming between us in a straight line, turning around and heading back to the other person. A few times Aggie even jumped off the side and swam around all by herself. She thought it was big stuff to swim to one of the steps and watch us before deciding where to swim next.

Taking a breather. |
I wasn't sure we'd convince her to leave, but eventually she got tired and pulled herself begrudgingly out of the pool. I turned around to see her curled up on the lounge chair where I had spread out my beach towels. What a cutie!

Thanks, Jeane!
