Man Cub: 12 Months

Darling Boy,
How are you 1?  This year has flown by, and I can’t believe I no longer have a little baby. You amaze us each day!  You are sweet, happy, adventurous, and your love for others is contagious.  Thank you for pulling us out of our comfort zones constantly and teaching us to trust Jesus and we entrust you right back to Him.  We love you, Chimwemwe, and we are so very, very glad that Jesus gave you to us.  We pray you see Jesus first and recognize Him quickly as Savior of your life.

Even with all of the traveling (3 new states and 4 new countries this month alone), you have done remarkably well with sleep.  On a ‘normal’ day, you like a 1.5-2 hour morning nap and a 1.5-2 hour afternoon nap.  Bedtime is still around 7:30-8:00 and you wake up between 5:45-7.  Jet lag has caused you to have a few rough nights, but you are fighting hard to get back on an all night sleeping schedule.

You love to eat!  I have started letting you eat 1 piece of whole grain bread with Dijon mustard, cheese, and organic turkey just to get some protein in you.  You aren’t a fan of meat still, but you’ll eat most anything else.  You prefer your veggies pureed, but as long as you eat them, I’m fine with that!  You also still nurse 3-4 times a day, sometimes more when we’re traveling.  You were allowed to eat a whole chocolate cupcake at your birthday party, and I think you might be another chocoholic for our family.  At least you come by it naturally in this family!

You are a relentless stair climber!  If stairs or steps are nearby, you are on them.  Up down, up down, over and over again!  You are working on learning how to use a spoon by yourself.  Your confidence in your walking is growing each day, and I see you crawling less and less.  I’m proud of you, but a little sad to not hear the pat, pat, pat of your crawling as much anymore. You love to clap your hands.  You also like to wave and say ‘hi’. 8 teeth now make their home in your mouth, and another is going to be here soon!
Stroller rides, your puppies, walks, walking, stairs, water, swimming, meeting people, being in the carrier, having all your family in one place…all of the same things you have been liking!

Being sleepy, meat, being hungry, being too far from Mommy or Daddy for long
