I love Christmas music. Old, new, it doesn't matter. Growing up in
kid choir at church meant we learned the stories behind the carols we
sang. I remember so many of these stories and have fact checked many of
them over the years with the invention of the internet. :) Check back

December 10th: We Need a Little Christmas
Mame the musical called for a Christmas song, and Jerry Herman didn't disappoint with this little tune. In the production, Mame loses her millions in the Stock Market crash of '29. Life is bleak and somber, but Mame declares that Christmas must go on! First performed in 1966 by Angela Landsbury, the song to me puts me in a Christmas mood even if it's been a hard year. My favorite rendition of this song is Lucille Ball's performance in the film adaptation of Mame.
