Man Cub: 13 Months

Precious Man Cub,

Somehow, each day is more exciting than the last with you!  Your infectious joy fills up each moment, and 'fun' is just the beginning of describing you!  No day goes by without you being covered in drool-it's the month of serious teeth cutting.  You've taken it in stride and marched on in spite of it. Today was your first 'first day of school' as you started 2 day a week preschool.  You did so incredibly well.  Your teachers described you as happy, sociable, and busy.  Yep, that's our boy!  We pray each day for Jesus to capture your heart so that all your days can be spent serving Him!  We love you, Chimwemwe!

Sleeping:
We are back on normal sleeping schedules from all of our travel.  You go to bed between 7:30-7:45 in the evenings and sleep until 6:45-7:30 in the mornings.  For the most part, you are done with morning naps and take one long nap from 12:30-3:00 (ish).  Regardless of when you go down, it usually last 2.5-3 hours.  You even took an excellent nap at school today!
Eating:
Picky.  That's all we can say about your eating this month.  You've decided you hate most textures and all veggies.  What?!!  Our wonderful eater is now picky.  We sneak veggies in yogurt and smoothies or puree them and add a little blueberry to it.  We joked with your pediatrician that you'll be eating pureed veggies til you're 12.  I sure hope not though. :/  You will eat grilled Chick-fil-A nuggets and turkey.  You love cheese and all fruits.  You also like most cereals.  We're still trying to keep you gluten-free when possible, but you are handling it well when you do eat it.  Sometimes you'll eat what's on our plates, but it's always a toss up on when you'll decide to do that.  Nursing is still a must for you!
Tricks/Activities/Accomplishments
You love to go to the playground and climb the equipment and go down the slide!  Your race car tower is exciting for minutes and minutes on end.  You stand on your tiptoes to put your cars on the track and watch them swirl down and down to the ground.  It's adorable.  You can follow simple commands like "Put it back." "Bring it to me," and "Come here."  You love to share your food and like to feed us your blueberries or other small foods.  I'll choose to think of it as cute.  You think clapping your hands and giving high 5s is super cool.

Likes:
You love bubbles!  We bought you a bubble machine so you could chase bubbles to your heart's content.  Bailey is your newest fascination, and you love to lay your head on his little back.  He's tolerating these spontaneous cuddles fairly well.  You still love water, whether it's bath time, the splash pad in the back yard, drinking it, or splashing in your water table.  You took your first real ride past the dock on the jet ski this week, and you thought that was big stuff.

Dislikes:
Veggies!  Being tired or hungry.

The Pilgrim

Davis Bunn has once again welded together history and fiction into a seamless story with rich characters and a thought-provoking plot. Helena is the recently divorced mother of the soon-to-be Emperor Constantine. In the midst of her grief over her divorce, she hears God's voice and is obedient. Even if the historical fact stops there and the rest of the story is nothing but artistic license, it's enough to weave a story of dedication to Kingdom Work that we should all have in our lives. Helena wants to plant a church in Jerusalem 300 years after it's destruction, but she chooses to start her journey with peace, dignity, and poise. Her quest shows her things about the character of God she would have otherwise missed had she not chosen to be faithful to Him. It's a lesson we all need to practice.

I did receive a free copy of this book for my honest opinions.

6 Years!

Isaac and I began Team Ozinga 6 years ago today.  It has flown by!

We started out with Bailey already in the picture, and then added another pup and eventually a baby.  Our work in Zambia is continue to grow as God leads us to do more and more.  We're doing things we'd never dreamed of doing when we said, "I do." 6 years ago.  We still have more dreams, and we are constantly weighing them to make sure they are God's will.  We're so thankful for the family and friends who hold us up in prayer and love on us so well.

For whatever reason, we sometimes struggle to do something special for ourselves.  We finally decided to take a sail boat trip around the bay tonight.  It was a full boat, but we managed to snag the back all to ourselves, so that was a bonus treat.  Our full bellies from dinner at our favorite Greek restaurant and some champagne while sailing made for a perfect little cruise.  We did spot a couple of dolphins too!

Here's to many, many more years!
