School Days

It amazes me how quickly each day flies by. My students have easily adjusted into the routine of middle school this year, and we are flowing through curriculum with lots of wiggle room. What a treat! Just like last year, I have a solid group of sweet children who are happy and healthy. They have positive attitudes and are learning how to work hard to reach their goals. We have amazing conversations about world events, and they are so ready to get out of the geography topics so we can start talking about cultures in depth. Bless their hearts! My classroom seems to be a haven for most of us, and I am so blessed. Granted, I'm more exhausted and lacking free time more than ever, but these guys are so totally worth it!

Aggie Wreath

My dear friend Michelle made an Aggie Fabric Wreath a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to try my hand at one. I'm pretty darn pleased, and I'm going to make a smaller one for my classroom in the next week or two.

Bailey and the Birds

For over a year, Bailey has had little interest in our two parakeets, Igor and Nika. He climbs our legs if we go near their cage as he wants to be the center of attention, but he doesn't care for the little noise makers in the corner of the living room. This afternoon, Isaac had Nika in our bedroom to check her nail length. I took her and sat down on the bathroom floor with her perched on my finger. Bailey came over to us and began to give her quick, short kisses, just like he gives his sweet gerbils. I couldn't believe it. He continued to circle around me and give Nika little kisses. At one point, he gave her a little nudge with his nose, and she flew across the room. Bailey liked that! I retrieved Nika, and Bailey gave her another little kiss and nudge. Off she flew again. He'd run to her, and then look at me until I came to pick her up again. Bailey had invented a game and someone to play with. My puppy who has never played with another animal had made a game with his detested parakeet! Isaac brought in Igor to see if Bailey would play with him too, but for now, Bailey's new playmate is Nika alone.

Anniversary Celebration Day 4

After a lesiurely day at sea, we were ready to play when we got off the ship in Cancun. We had booked an excursion to Playa Mia, which is a private beach full of activities. In the morning, we kayaked, snorkled, and rocked in the hammocks.
Right before lunch, we decided to go scuba diving with the dive master at Playa Mia. I went diving twice in Hawaii, and Isaac had only been in a pool, so we thought this was a great opportunity. We swam through some amazing coral and rock formations.

We found this little guy, and he hung out with us for awhile.

The grouper and reef shark seemed like pretty good buddies. They went everywhere together.

We also found these two huge lobsters!

After our dive trip, we had a yummy lunch and then rested a bit before heading back to the pier. We both now want to get certified so we can dive more often. There's something very thrilling about seeing a side of God's creation that isn't normally seen.

Life with The Three Stooges

*I've been a horrible blogger due to the death of my computer over a month ago. I'll get better again soon, I promise.

Last Saturday, Isaac's brother and cousin, Jacob and Jason, came in from Ohio and Michigan for a week long visit. I always knew I needed to marry a man without sisters, and this week proved me right. It was a perfect treat for all of us, especially Bailey, who loved the extra attention.

As soon as the guys dropped off their bags at the house from the airport last Saturday morning, we packed up for a day at the beach. Bailey had so much fun running and chasing birds, and the guys enjoyed their time with a frisbee.

Jacob, Jason, and Isaac
On Saturday night, we went to the Watermark/Christy Nockles concert at church. It was a beautiful, glorious, awesome time of worship.

Sunday night we went to Chuy's and the Chocolate Bar. This is what 5 of us ordered for dessert at CB:

Within 5 minutes, our plate looked like this:

I had to teach all week (not a bad thing...this year is going so well!) so the guys got to entertain themselves. They saw Huble Telescope IMAX in 3D, went deep sea fishing and made quite the catch, and spent time at the Houston Zoo watching half brother Tucker and Baylor tumble and wrestle. Isaac and I miss the guys and hope they get to come back again this spring!
